I had a chance to visit Beijing last month, December, 2017, just for a few days to attend a conference. The last time when I visited Beijing was in 2006 so that almost a decade has passed since then.
I worried about the air quality in the city but it actually turned out that it was not so bad. I did see a blue sky during my stay, though I had been in the conference room all the time except some lunch break, when I took one of the three photos in the day-time.
The conference was about the role of science for the eradication of poverty and inequality. Some presentations were impressive and I learnt from them greatly. I confirmed again that it is always important to be flexible and open to listen to others.
I am grateful for those who gave me this opportunity.
