Joint-seminar with two research groups from UT

In early December, 2017, our group had an annual joint-seminar with the two research groups from the University of Tokyo (UT), one group is led by Profs. Moriguchi, Kurisu and Nakatani, who belong to the Department of Urban Engineering and the other group is led by Profs. Tasaki, Hijioka and Nakajima, who belong to the Department of Environment Systems.  This joint-seminar has been a kind of annual event since 2012 (or 2011) and the opportunity has been mutual learning event among the participant students.  As a faculty, I myself also found this event quite significant to get various new aspects of research as well as to confirm some common interests of studies.

A scene during the joint-seminar

This year our group hosted the event and the seminar was held on O-okayama campus.  Yamamoto-san, M1 student, played a big role to have prepared and organized the gathering (thank you!)  In the seminar, there were six presentations with about forty participants of audience (i.e. students and faculties), two from each group and each of them was listened and discussed by more than forty participants in English.  I wished if we could have had more time to deepen our discussions but overall the seminar went very well.

From our own group, two M2 students (Yusuf and Shinnosuke) made the presentations and they did very good jobs!

The seminar was followed by a cheerful party, which, I hope, every participant, enjoyed and had good and friendly conversations with old and new friends from all three groups.

I would like to thank all professors from UT very much as in the past years and hope this tradition will continue.   I also thank all members of  my group, who contributed to the success of this event one way or another.

Many smiles at the party!
