Rural electrification workshop at University of Tokyo

On December 1, 2016, an international workshop on electrification and the role of renewables was held at Hongo Campus of University of Tokyo with an objective of exploring the energy choices in Myanmar and the Great Mekong sub region.

The workshop featured highly prominent professors and researchers from University of Tokyo, UC Berkeley, Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth(RITE), and Japan Science and Technology Agency. We (Prof. Naoya Abe and I) got this good opportunity to participate and make a presentation at the workshop.img_5343s

Every single presentation in the workshop was eminent being highly educational and significant. The talent and hard endeavors of each presenter was evident. We made our presentation under the category of “Electrification Research”. Our presentation outlined the approaches of rural electrification undertaken by The Philippines in three islands of the Visayan area. This presentation led to an active Q&A session where we received many inquiries, important suggestions for future works and personal opinions regarding our research.

The workshop was followed by an after party which provided an opportunity to have a friendly interaction with each other while enjoying palatable foods and drinks. It was a delightful experience!

We thank Dr. Sugiyama for inviting us to make the presentation.
