Hallo this is Vicka,

Figure 1. Resilient cities, driving growth seminar

This golden week I had opportunity to attend one of the important meeting for Asian countries, Asian Development Bank (ADB) annual meeting. This year the meeting was held in Yokohama city, Japan. Unfortunately, I only could attend only on 5th of May, but I still could  joined with some part of the seminar on that event. One of the seminar that makes me interested is about “Resilient Cities, Driving Growth”.  Cities in Asian countries become a significant topic, since the rapid growing population and economy in these regions. Since the city embodies people`s hope then the challenges for the cities is how they can improve the quality of life of their citizens such us water management, job, education, health, electricity, food, etc. Then, infrastructure is one of the key of city development to support the growing of population, therefore investment and collaboration among the stakeholder play a significant role, but upper from that the commitment of the local government to build the city is the most important for realizing inclusive and sustainable growth in cities.

Beside the seminar, I also attended the discussion about global trade in Asia, which mainly talk about the now and future Asian economy after America withdraw from the TPP member. The panelist in this discussion are the governor of ADB from Pakistan, Indonesia, India, and the President of ADB from Japan. From the panelist perspective, there will be some countries in Asia that will balance the current power of economy in the world. One of the unforgettable moments is that I could meet with one of my inspiration, Mrs. Sri Mulyani, Her took place at  ranks 37th  in the world`s most powerful women list, and she also used to be one of the World Bank Managing Director  and chief operating officer, which was responsible for the World`s Bank operation worldwide, and in 2017 she became no.1 the best ministry of finance in Asia.
