I went back to Indonesia in the first two weeks in April 2011. In Indonesia I visited 3 institutions that engages with urban water supply in North Sumatera and Jakarta, and had made interview with some enthused people there.
PDAM Tirtanadi
PDAM Tirtanadi is the name for North Sumatera Province Water Bureau, which manage both tap water supply and waste water collection. Its service areas are divided into two zone; Zone I provide services for Medan and surrounding, and Zone II which are joint operation areas which several district in North Sumatera Province. Each zone shares 90% and 10% of total around 400.000 customers, respectively.

I met Mr. Zaman from Public Relation Division and Mrs. Harmayani from Finance Division, who kindly gave me information and handing me away general technical documents of PDAM Tirtanadi.

Jakarta Water Supply Regulatory Body
Jakarta Water Supply Regulatory Body (JWSRB) is the institution that settled by the Governor of Jakarta to maintain balanced interest between the public and water bureaus to undertake water service provision in Jakarta Province. The institution founded in 2001 based on amended and restated agreement between PAM Jaya (Jakarta Province Water Bureau) and its private partners.
In JWSRB I met one of the Board of Members, Mr. Firdaus Ali, who also a lecturer in Environmental Engineering Dept. of University of Indonesia. I had valuable discussion time with him regarding the condition of water supply in Jakarta nowadays. And by the way, it was not the first time I met him, we have met before in JICA Seminar on Water Management that held in Yokohama last January.

PAM Lyonnaise Jaya
PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) is the private partner of PAM Jaya which operates the western part of Jakarta water supply system since 1998. Based on its publication, in 2010 Palyja has serving around 420.000 customers 147 million cubic meter of water billed.
I met many of my colleagues there, while also had an interesting discussion with Mr. Robert Sitorus, the Head of Construction Division, my previous supervisor. It have been a beneficial time for me and my study progress.
