Schedule and instructions for doctoral students completing in March, 2015

 

For IDE doctoral program students who are going to gradaute in March, 2015,

 

This page summarizes the schedule and supplemental instructions for the IDE doctoral program students while the general schedule and instructions set by Tokyo Tech are certainly valid.   Thus please refer to “SCHEDULE FOR COMPLETING THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM, THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING” set by the Tokyo Tech for the preparation of your thesis.

1. Submission of Thesis

To: Academic Advisor     (No need to submit to the prospective examiners at this stage)

Deadline: Specified by Academic Advisor (and before the presentation date)

 2.Final Presentation

Date and Time: January 5 – 6, 2015   *The detailed program will be posted on a separate web page.

Venue: Ishikawadai 4th Bldg B1 Room B02 – 5

Language: English or Japanese

Time Limit: 90 minutes (60 minutes for presentation, 30 minutes for discussion)

Handouts: Prepare 20 copies of presentation slides for faculty staff at minimum. Indicate “Doctoral Thesis Presentation, Department of International Development Engineering” with the date in the first page. Put slide number in each slide. Distribution of the copies to other attendances is optional. Circulation of thesis is not required at the time of presentation.

Computer: The presenters have to prepare their laboratory’s computers (or personal one), which most facilitates their presentation according to individual PC environment, irrespective of operating system or presentation software. Please consult your supervisor on which computer you should use. The presenters do NOT need to submit their presentation files in advance. Please bring the data with your computer.

Presenters would better to examine whether their computers can appropriately connect to the projector in the presentation room in advance (computers need to have a device to connect a VGA cable). Please consult your supervisor on the availability of the presentation room. This process is important as any postpone due to mechanical problems associated with PC’s connection will not be taken into consideration in your presentation.

3. Submission and Explanation of Thesis to Examiners

Doctoral candidates are required to submit and explain the thesis to their examiners and the academic advisor as follows. Candidates may revise their  theses after the final presentation and  before this submission.

Deadline: One week after presentation date (* Please arrange the date and time for submission and explanation with each examiners, individually.)

 4. Final Examination

Date of the final examination should be determined by the academic advisor.  Discuss with the academic advisor based on the followings:

Foreign Language Examination: The academic advisor will assign an English academic journal article, which is related to the doctoral thesis. Doctoral candidates shall Introduce and give comments on this journal paper in English.
