Overview of the undergraduate program

The undergraduate program was established in 1995 to meet growing needs for professional engineers with expert knowledge and broad vision required to match recent changes under global circumstances such as rapid economical growth in the Asian region and internationalization of advanced technology.

International development engineering covers broad areas of engineering (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Information Engineering and Civil Engineering) that are necessary especially for Asian countries including Japan to further develop their industry. Engineers in this field are expected to actively play important roles in international cooperation between countries. 50% of the undergraduate students of the department are from overseas, aiming to enhance the networking of IDE’s community and alumni in the Asian region and beyond.

All undergraduate classes are taught in Japanese while we often emphasize the importance of English communication skills.
