Researches

　We aim at the efficient production of L-lactic acid (a raw material of biodegradable plastic) and ethanol from cellulosic biomass such as bamboo, seaweed and byproduct of shochu (Japanese spirit) by employing the new cultivation method and gene recombination technology.

　We are trying to produce the functional compost that act as agricultural chemical as well as compost by enhancing the growth of plant disease suppressing microorganisms in the compost, which enable us to produce safe and reliable foods without agricultural chemicals.

　It had been believed that the longer composting period produce better compost with higher maturity. However, it was turned out that there’s an appropriate composting period to produce the compost promoting the growth of plants. We are analyzing the genes of microorganisms emerging in the compost, aiming at the development of DNA sensor for the determination of optimum compoting period.
