*****
We met up at Okayama station on a beautiful Saturday morning to hike th famous Daibosatsurei.
The Daibosaturei is one of Japan’s famous 100 mountains, and as such we expect it to offer incredible views.
We were not disappointed. The mountain ridge offers clear views of the southern alps and mt Fuji, as well as the sprawling city of Kofu below our feet.
It was not a very challenging hike, but it was rewarding after one difficult incline to the gorgeous views.
We sat on top of the mountain and are out onigiri for lunch and just chatted with Mt. Fuji gently watching us from above the clouds.

We slowly made our way down to the infamous Daibosatsupass
This mountain pass that used to be traversed for travel from Edo to Kofu is infamous for the famous novel of the same name by Nakazato Kaizan
More famous yet may be the movie based on the novel by famous director Kihachi Okamoto
This movie and this novel explore the life of fictitious character called Ryunosuke Tsuki
This is a movie I really want to watch now, not only because I have passed by that area, but because this story is an exploration of evil.
Ryunosuke is not a kind hero, but instead a vicious murderer. This movie follows and explores the complex psychology of an antihero.

Regardless, we finally made it down from the mountain ate some of Yamanashi’s famous (Famous food, Hoto).
My experience with Hoto is that it becomes more delicious the more you eat it, and all the flavors condense. It was excellent.

Overall, it was an amazing trip and we spent a lot of quality time making deeper friendships with each other, and promised to do it again!
